Due to the fear of heavy rain in Karachi, light aircraft will be moved to safer places.
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has issued an alert for the concerned institutions while issuing orders to take security measures at Karachi Airport.
The CAA order has said that light weight aircraft should be diverted to safe places. Any collision hazard equipment on runways and tarmac areas should be kept as far as possible from sensitive locations.
During thunderstorms and strong winds, sprays should be ensured to eliminate various types of insects and additional bird shooters should be deployed to keep birds away from aircraft.
As per CAA ensure the working of all electrical equipment in and around the airfield lighting party runways. Teams are always ready to determine the friction/braking action of the runway for safe operation during rain.
Rain water flow should be made possible at the rear of international and domestic satellite area. The work of filling all kinds of potholes on the sides of the runways should be completed immediately. Falumi Van should be fully mobilized during any emergency.
Heavy rains and thunderstorms are predicted in Karachi under the expected Monsoon system. Winds are likely to blow at a speed of 60 km per hour during this time.
