Karachi: An epidemic of diarrhea and cholera spread in the suburbs of Shahr Quaid, as a result of which 261 cases were reported and one woman died.

An outbreak of diarrhea and cholera spread in the suburbs of Karachi, while after Eid-ul-Adha, gastro- and stomach diseases increased in the city. Between the last six days, 259 cases of diarrhea and 3 cases of cholera have been reported in Gadap Town, Shedigoth, while a 40-year-old person affected by diarrhea has been reported. The woman died.

According to the Sindh Health Department, on the evening of June 28, 15 patients were brought to Memon Goth Hospital (under PPHI) from Shedi Goth area of ​​Gadap town with complaints of diarrhea and vomiting. After improvement, these patients were discharged.

Taking stock of the situation, steps were taken by District Health Officer (DHO) Malir Karachi Dr. Muhammad Jameel Mughal, DHO Malir immediately contacted MPA (Member Provincial Assembly) of the area and UC Vice Chairman UC Darsano. After conferring with Chanu, sent a surveillance team, which visited the patients in the hospital and collected preliminary data.

The surveillance team met UC Vice Chairman Murtaza Baloch and the councilor and visited the affected area together. The surveillance team collected 4 water samples from the main water supply and various houses in the area, the results of water analysis showed the presence of Vibro cholerae and E. coli.

The results of the water analysis clearly show that the source of transmission is Vibro cholerae and E. coli found in the water. Social workers, PPHI, DC Millar among others were informed about the outbreak and taken on board.
