Tehran: Iran has said that it will not send its new ambassador to Sweden after the expiration of the term of its former ambassador over the desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden.
According to Iranian state media, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said on a social media website that Iran is not sending its new ambassador there because of the Swedish government’s issuance of a permit to desecrate the Holy Quran.
Although the administrative procedures for sending Iran’s new ambassador to Sweden have been completed, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs currently has no plans to send the new ambassador to Sweden because of the desecration of the Holy Quran there.
The foreign minister further said that he had a discussion with the newly elected ambassador Hojatullah Faughani and the ambassador also presented a report on his diplomatic mandate.
