Greek boat disaster: Survivors explain the causes of the tragedy

Survivors of a boat accident near Greece that may have killed hundreds of migrants have told of people smugglers in North Africa who smuggle people aboard fishing trawlers. .

According to international media reports, the survivors of the accident told the court that the accident was caused by the actions of the Greek Coast Guard. They have told the judicial authorities about the trawler’s overload which caused the boat to capsize on the morning of June 14.

One Syrian survivor said he and other migrants were aboard the boat Adriana, which capsized on its way to Italy, but a Greek coast guard vessel attached a rope to the trawler’s bow and continued to tow it, picking up speed.
