Lahore: After the rains in Punjab, there is a low-level flood in the Indus River at the Chashma barrage, the Relief Commissioner of Punjab has issued instructions to all the concerned departments.
According to PDMA, it is likely to remain partly cloudy and humid in most of the districts of the province from today to tomorrow.
Lahore, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Murree, Guliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mianwali, Khushab, Kasur, Sialkot, Gujarat, Narowal, Sahiwal, Multan, Bahawalpur, DG Khan, Okara, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh. , Mandi Bahawaldin, Leh, Bahawalnagar, Rajanpur and Rahim Yar Khan are likely to receive rain with strong winds and thundershowers.
Due to heavy rainfall, the water level in the canals connected to the river at the spring may rise, due to which there is a risk of inundation of the areas connected to the canals. Vulnerable infrastructure can be damaged due to wind/surge/thunderstorm and rains.
Relief Commissioner Punjab Nabil Javed has directed that the people living in the low-lying areas should move to safe places while flood fighting, rescue and relief teams with necessary machinery should remain alert 24 hours. Evacuation of cattle from lowland areas and vaccination should be arranged in advance.
He directed that arrangements should be made to move the residents of the flooded areas to safe places in emergency situations, medical teams should be prepared to provide first aid to the affected people to avoid epidemics.
Relief Commissioner Punjab said that the officers should be ready to ensure continuous monitoring of rescue and relief operations, all relevant agencies should be alert 24/7 and ensure timely response.
