Birmingham: Australia beat England by 2 wickets in the first Test of the Ashes series after a thrilling encounter.

Despite rain canceling the morning session on the final day of the match on Tuesday, the Australian batsmen braved England’s nippy bowling.

Australia were 183-5 at tea and needed 98 more runs to reach the target of 281 runs, in the last session Australia achieved the target of 281 runs for the loss of 8 wickets with 27 balls to spare.

Pat Cummins and Nathan Lions played a major role in the team’s success while opener Usman Khawaja scored 141 runs in the first innings and 65 runs in the second innings.
