South African President Ramaphosa arrived in Kiev today to negotiate a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine, but Russia fired missiles.
He is accompanied by four presidents of African countries and three representatives who will meet with President Zelenskiy.
Upon the African delegation’s arrival in Kiev, they were greeted by Russian missiles, shortly after their arrival air raid sirens sounded in Kiev and air defenses were mobilized.
The Ukrainian Air Force says it shot down 12 Russian missiles.
The Ministry of Interior said that no damage was reported in the city from the fresh Russian attack, but three people were injured.
Africa’s high-level delegation wants to voice its continent, which has been hit hardest by rising commodity prices since the war broke out last year.
Apart from the President of South Africa, the Presidents of Senegal, Zambia and Camaros are also included in the delegation.
The presidents of Uganda, Egypt and Congo were also supposed to be in the delegation, but they have sent representatives instead.
