Karachi: People’s Party nominee Mayor Murtaza Wahab approached the High Court to become a party to the petition of Jamaat-e-Islami’s Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman.
In the battle for the election of the mayor of Karachi, the legal issues intensified. People’s Party nominee Murtaza Wahab has approached the Sindh High Court to be a party to Jamaat-e-Islami’s nominated mayor Hafiz Naeemur Rehman’s petition against the Sindh Assembly’s legislation regarding the direct election of the mayor.
In the application filed by Murtaza Wahab to become a party, it has been decided that my position should also be heard during the hearing of Hafiz Naeemur Rehman’s application. My nomination papers have been approved to participate in the election of Mayor Karachi.
In the petition filed in the Sindh High Court, it has been requested that the Provincial Assembly has enacted the legislation taking into account all aspects. The application of Hafiz Naeemur Rahman is against the facts, it should be rejected.
It should be noted that Hafiz Naeemur Rahman has challenged the law of directly participating in the election of mayor in the Sindh High Court, while the court has asked the parties to respond on June 13.
