Sydney: A 16-year-old girl swimming with dolphins off the coast of Australia has died after being bitten by a shark.
According to Australian media, a shark attacked a girl in the Swan River in the Fremantle Port area of Perth. The girl died on the spot due to the deep wound of the shark’s jaw.
Police say the shark attacked when the girl jumped from the jet ski to swim with a pod of dolphins in the river. The girl died in the water due to profuse bleeding.
It is not yet clear what species the shark that attacked the 16-year-old girl belonged to, as there are more than 100 species of sharks in Australia, only a few of which are dangerous.
Recall that a 57-year-old man died in a shark attack in this area of Western Australia in November 2021, while several Sydney beaches, including the famous Bondi and Bronte, saw a swimmer die in a shark attack last February. It was later closed.
