In view of the hurricane, section 144 is imposed on the beaches in Karachi, bathing is prohibited

Karachi: Commissioner Karachi Iqbal Memon has banned going to the beach and bathing due to the cyclone.

Commissioner Karachi has imposed section 144 on going to the sea from June 11 until the effects of the storm are over, the notification of which has been issued. The notification states that bathing and hunting in the sea will be prohibited.

According to the report released by the Meteorological Department 12 hours ago, the cyclone ‘Baparjoy’ has slowly turned towards the northeast and the cyclone is 1120 km south of Karachi.

Winds of 130 to 150 and 160 kmph are likely to blow due to the storm. Fishermen already present in the sea due to the cyclone have also been warned of the danger and their fishing in the open sea has been banned.

According to the notification, the Deputy Commissioner and the Acting Commissioner will ensure the implementation of the ban and strict legal action will be taken for violation of Section 144.

Meanwhile, Karachi Port Trust (KPT) has issued an alert in view of the cyclone, in which all institutions have been instructed to remain on alert from June 12 to 14.

The KPT has also directed the fishermen to avoid going into the open sea from June 12 as the sea conditions are very dangerous and high waves are expected. According to the alert, strong winds and heavy rain are likely to occur in Makran coastal areas between the night of June 13 and the morning of June 14.

According to the KPT statement, waves of 25 to 28 feet are developing around the center of the storm system.
