Islamabad: Nepra has given preliminary approval to increase the electricity prices by Rs 1.25 paise per unit.
The hearing on the request for increase in terms of quarterly adjustment of electricity prices has been completed. Additional collections of Rs 46 billion will be made from consumers.
The increase in electricity prices will be in the form of adjustment from January to March, while the increase in electricity prices will be applied from June to September this year.
Nepra will release the details regarding electricity prices later. The increase in electricity prices will be implemented after the notification of the federal government.
The government is currently charging 47 paise per unit extra from electricity consumers while the 47 paise per unit adjustment will be charged by June.
