Lahore Zoo's decision to take rare animals from private farms instead of surplus lions

Lahore: Lahore Zoo administration has decided to exchange surplus lions and tigers with rare animals in private breeding farms.

Azim Zafar, director of Lahore Zoo, while talking to Express News, said that the zoo currently has 5 lions, three tigers and several deer surplus, for which it has been decided to get rare animals. Not present in the zoo or have been part of it in the past.

He said that such animals will also be obtained whose male and female are present in the zoo so that they can be made into pairs for breeding, a committee has been formed to approve the exchange of animals which will decide. Lahore Zoo has so far received offers from 6 breeding farms for the exchange of various animals, but the decision will be taken by the committee.

According to the sources, the Zoo Animal Exchange Committee has selected the rare species of deer, oryx, addex, puma and some other animals. The committee will now visit these farm houses and check the health of the animals. According to sources, the wildlife authorities have stopped the exchange of surplus deer and it has been decided to release the surplus deer in the wild except in various government zoos.
