Turkey, presidential and parliamentary elections today


Presidential and parliamentary elections will be held in Turkey today, three candidates including President Recep Tayyip Erdogan are in the field.

According to Turkish media, a tough competition is expected between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and opposition leader Kemal Kilic Daroglu in the presidential election.

According to the chairman of the Supreme Election Council of Turkey, Ahmet Yener, for the first time in the country’s history, 24 parties and 151 independent candidates are participating in the elections for the 600 seats in the parliament.

Before the election, the Turkish president and his supporters prayed at the historic Aya Sofia mosque and prayed for success.

According to Turkish media, the presidential candidate must win more than 50% of the votes to win.

According to reports, if no decision is reached, the contest between the two candidates with the highest number of votes will take place on May 28.

More than six and a half million voters living in Turkey and outside Turkey will take part in the referendum.
