After Egypt decided to ban the controversial Netflix series ‘Queen Qaluptra’, it has begun production of a new and original version of the film.

According to a report by the American magazine Variety, Egypt’s state TV channel is working to produce a high-quality documentary about the Egyptian ruler based on original facts.

“We are currently working with a number of experts in history, archaeology, and anthropology to bring out the real facts in the film, just like we do for all documentaries,” the channel says.

Born in Alexandria in 69 BC, not much is known about Queen Cleopatra’s ancestry, including her mother’s race, which is why her complexion is depicted as black in the Netflix series.

Not long ago, an Egyptian lawyer filed a lawsuit over Netflix’s new documentary on Queen Qalapatra for showing the queen in black.

According to international media reports, the Egyptian lawyer has now taken steps to take serious action against the makers of the documentary and ban the streaming service in Egypt following the release of the documentary’s trailer.

Egyptian lawyer Mahmoud al-Sumri alleged that the documentary promoted African civilization instead of Egyptian history.

The lawyer also criticized the management of Netflix for faking the program on the historical figure as a ‘crime’.
