Statement of the First Minister of Scotland on the situation in Pakistan after the arrest of Imran Khan

Glasgow: The First Minister of Scotland, Hamza Yusuf, has termed the arrest of Chairman PTI Imran Khan and the resulting political scenario as a disturbing situation.

On the social media website Twitter, he said that the current (political) situation in Pakistan is very disappointing, Pakistan is close to my heart, we are with the international community which wants a patient and tolerant attitude in Pakistan.

He added that it is very important to respect the rule of law and principles of democracy. It should be noted that after the arrest of Chairman PTI Imran Khan on May 9, protests are ongoing across the country.

Besides, the army has been called after violent incidents in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while a notification has been issued to keep all educational institutions, including government and private schools, closed on May 11 and 12 in Punjab.
