Polling continues for the by-elections in 24 districts of Sindh including Karachi

Karachi: Polling has started for by-elections in 24 districts of Sindh including Karachi.

According to Express News, polling for by-elections in 24 districts of Sindh including Karachi is going on, polling will continue from 8 am to 5 pm without any break.

434 candidates are in the fray for elections on 63 seats of different categories, polling will be held on 11 UC Chairman, Vice Chairman and 15 Ward Member seats of Karachi Division.

Candidates of People’s Party, Jamaat-e-Islami and PTI are in the field in the by-local elections, while MQM-Pakistan has also boycotted the by-local elections.

A total of 449 polling stations and 1586 polling booths have been set up for the by-elections, not a single polling station is normal, 292 are classified as highly sensitive and 157 as sensitive.

The number of male and female voters in the by-elections is 690 thousand 295. The number of highly sensitive polling stations in the 7 districts of Karachi is 168. CCTV cameras have also been installed in the highly sensitive polling stations while more than 7 thousand police Officials are performing election duty.

UC 4 New Karachi, UC 6 North Nazimabad and UC 13 New Karachi included in Central District, UC 2, UC 3 Shah Latif Town, UC 8 Landhi in Korangi District, UC 8 Landhi will also be held in West District. Polling will be held in UC 1 Orangi, UC 2 Orangi, UC 8 Mominabad, UC 2 in South District and UC 2 in Kemari District will be polling on the joint seat of Chairman Vice Chairman.

By-elections will be held in Jacobabad, Kashmore and Shikarpur on 1.1 seats, Ghotki, Sukkur and Khairpur on 2.2 seats, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sanghar, Tindwalayar and Matiari on 1.1 municipal seat also by-elections. That there will be by-elections on 10 seats in Hyderabad and 3 seats in Nowshahroferoz, 1 seat in Jamshoro, 3 seats in Dadu, 2 seats in Badin, 2 seats in Sajawal and 3 seats in Thatta.

In Karachi, polling will be held on 5 seats in Korangi, 1 in Malir and 6 in East Karachi district, 1 in South, 3 in West, 3 in Central and 7 by-elections in Kemari district.

It should be noted that candidates have won unopposed in 27 seats of different categories, no candidate has submitted nomination papers in 3 local body seats.
