Rawalpindi: Faizabad, the junction of the twin cities, has been sealed off to stop the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf rally.
According to the traffic police, the Faizabad junction connecting Rawalpindi and Islamabad has been completely sealed and containers have been installed by the administration of the twin cities. This move has been taken to prevent PTI’s Labor Day rally from entering Islamabad. Apart from this, the purpose of sealing Faizabad is to stop the oil tankers rally of Sahala Oil Contractors Association from entering Islamabad.
A heavy contingent of police has been deployed at Faizabad and more containers will also be delivered. In this regard, it has been informed that the traffic from Rawalpindi to Islamabad has been diverted towards Stadium Road, while the citizens going from Rawalpindi to Islamabad should use the Airport Road. According to the Traffic Police, there is more than capacity traffic on Rawalpindi Murree Road.
The sudden sealing of Faizabad Interchange has led to long queues of vehicles and severe traffic jams on major highways of both the cities, resulting in severe inconvenience to the citizens. People with large vehicles, including motorcyclists, are facing difficulties to reach the destination due to road closures.
