Lahore: PML-N leader and former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has revealed that there was corruption of more than 20 billion rupees in the free flour campaign launched by the government.
Speaking at an event in Lahore, Shahid Khaqan said that unless the political leadership gives a vision, the system cannot run, just distributed the flour from the budget of 84 billion rupees, in which there has been corruption of more than twenty billion rupees. What did the poor get for which 84 billion rupees were spent?
He said that they cannot provide facilities in this system, everyone is sitting as spectators where political enmities have turned into hatred, the cause of the country’s problems is the common failure of leadership because people who are not qualified are also sitting as leaders today.
Shahid Khaqan said that if the politicians have the capacity, the problems will be solved, the country will not run until the judiciary and bureaucracy are reformed. Whether Parliament is good or bad, its decisions must be accepted.
Later, former finance minister Miftah Ismail said that the current governance must be abolished and a new model should be introduced.
On the other hand, Information and Broadcasting Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, while reacting to the statement of Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, rejected the allegation and said that in Ramadan, free flour was distributed to millions of poor people in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh and Islamabad with full transparency and honesty. was done, which was supervised by the Prime Minister himself.
He said that the Prime Minister also visited various cities to review the distribution of free flour, administrative officers and staff worked day and night for the success of the historic scheme which is commendable.
