A 10 kg bag of flour has disappeared from most shops in Lahore.
According to market sources, a bag of 15 kg of flour is being sold for 2200 rupees in the city.
Sources of Mill Owners Association have said that mill owners are selling flour at Rs.170 per kg.
The Food Department of Punjab has said that in the open market, flour is being sold at Rs 115 80 paise per kg, old wheat is being given to mills at the rate of Rs 3900 per maund.
The Food Department says that the process of procurement of wheat is going on throughout Punjab including Lahore, wheat is being bought from farmers at the rate of 39 hundred rupees per maund, and farmers are being given an additional 70 rupees per maund for transportation. .
According to market sources, the price of wheat in the open market is Rs 4500 per maund, due to the mills getting limited quota of government wheat, wheat has become expensive.
On the other hand, in Lahore, they started selling naan by roti and naan at arbitrary prices, the official price of bread has been set at 16 rupees and that of naan at 22 rupees.
While naan-by-roti is selling at Rs.20 and naan and khamiri at Rs.30, Roghini naan is being sold at Rs.70 instead of Rs.40.
According to the sources, the bakers made the official rate list disappear from the ovens.
