Islamabad: Extension of census fieldwork in various districts for another five days has been approved in connection with the seventh census across the country.
The decision in this regard was taken in a meeting held on April 15, in which the Chief Census Commissioner, Chief Statistician, PBS participated.
The meeting approved the extension of census field work in various districts from April 26 to April 30, 2023. The districts extended for census are Quetta, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Karachi Central, Karachi South, West, East, Malir, Kemari, Korangi, Hyderabad, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Jhelum, Gujarat, Sheikhupura, Attock Chakwal, Peshawar. , DI Khan, Abbottabad, Tank included.
Negative growth rate or very slow growth rate has been observed in these districts, cities and verification process should also be ensured in these districts.
After the Eid holidays, the final phase of digital census field operations will begin from Wednesday, April 26, 2023. According to the Bureau of Statistics, 116 million 34 thousand 900 people have been counted in Punjab so far. In Sindh, 5 million twenty eight hundred fifty seven thousand eight hundred and fifty three people have been counted.
235.3 million 88 thousand people have been counted across the country so far, the work of census in 19 districts including Shahrakatdar and Rawalpindi has not been completed yet.
In Karachi, Hyderabad and Quetta, the work of census is still pending, while in KP more than 3 crore 92 lakh 43 thousand and in Balochistan 1 crore ninety two lakh 55 thousand 648 people have been counted. More than one crore fifteen lakh people were counted in Lahore.
According to Bureau of Statistics officials, the census is likely to be completed by April 30. The field work was stopped for 5 days due to Eid-ul-Fitr holidays.
