Karachi / Islamabad: The date of the first nationwide digital census has been extended for the second time as 99% of the work has been completed in Sindh.
Sarwar Gondal, Member Support Services of Federal Bureau of Statistics (PBS), while talking to Express, said that the digital census campaign has been extended for another five days, now this campaign will continue till April 15 and the final results will be released till April 30. will be done.
He said that PBS has identified 32,000 high-rise buildings in Karachi to the Sindh government where the enumerator has put the census numbers on the structures of the buildings but has not bothered to go up to take the census on these flats, he said. According to the complaints received, the enumerators have not even gone to many slums, many areas have been deprived of house enumeration, there have been complaints of manual work instead of tablets in many places.
Member Support Services Sarwar Gondal said that the work of the statistical office was to set policy guidelines, provide funds, train enumerators and provide tablets, this work was done in a very systematic manner, now it is the work of provincial governments Is.
He said that PBS does not have the manpower, the enumerator is also related to the provincial governments and the responsibility of implementation and monitoring of this campaign lies with the assistant commissioners in whose offices a dashboard has been installed where every moment However, complaints are being received from all over the country about the slowness of Assistant Commissioners.
He said that the assistant commissioners are also busy checking the price of food items in the month of Ramadan, but the census is also a very important and sensitive work, so they must have fulfilled their responsibility. Will recommend action.
Member Support Services said that we have met the Chief Secretary of Sindh and informed him about all the issues. On the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Federal Minister for Information Technology Aminul Haq has been included in the committee formed by PBS.
Manwar Ali Jangiriu, director of PBS and in-charge census in Sindh, while talking to Express, said that 99% of the work has been completed in Sindh, while the population is 486 million, 95% of the work has been completed in Karachi. And the population has been shown as one crore 40 lakh.
He explained about 95% of the work in Karachi and said that this is the proportion of the house census that has been done so far. This house census will be conducted in the extension of five days, under which both households and population will be seen in Karachi.
Meanwhile, the Federal Bureau of Statistics has issued a notification for the extension of the date of the census, which states that 97 percent of the first digital census has been completed, but only 3 percent of the census in a few big cities and Balochistan. Lives.
Chief Statistician Naeem Al-Zafar said that 99% of the work has been completed in Punjab, 98% of the census work has been completed in Sindh, while 82% of the work has been completed in Balochistan.
