Sanaa: According to a spokesman for the Yemeni rebel group, Saudi Arabia has released more than a dozen Houthi prisoners.

According to Al Jazeera’s report, this release was made at a time when the Omani authorities have arrived in Sana’a, the capital of Yemen. The release is being welcomed in the context of international efforts to end Yemen’s years-long conflict.

Abdul Qadir al-Mortaza, the Houthi official in charge of the prisoner exchange talks, said on the social media website Twitter that 13 Houthi prisoners have arrived in Sana’a.

He said the prisoners had been released in exchange for a Saudi prisoner who had been released earlier by the Houthis, but did not say when the rebels released the Saudi prisoner.

On the other hand, there was no immediate comment from the Saudi government. In addition, Abdul Qadir al-Mortaza said that the prisoners released from Saudi prisons today are part of the agreement reached by the United Nations, and this agreement will be fully implemented next Thursday.
