Judicial Complex Riot Case;  Extension of Bails of PTI Leaders

Islamabad: The Anti-Terrorism Court extended the interim bails of the PTI leaders in the case of vandalism and rioting in the judicial complex.

75 workers of Tehreek-e-Insaf were produced in the court by the police. On this occasion, PTI leaders Asad Umar, Aamir Kayani, Zulfi Bukhari, Khurram Shehzad, Umar Ayub, Hammad Azhar, Ali Awan Nawaz and Shehzad Waseem reached the Anti-Terrorism Court while PTI’s lawyers, Sardar Ali Bukhari, were busy. And Naeem Panjotha was also present in the court of Judge Raja Jawad Abbas.

During the hearing, the judge remarked that you have gone to the Islamabad High Court to the extent of Imran Khan. Until the Islamabad High Court gives a decision, the Anti-Terrorism Court cannot decide. The judge said that there are 6, 60 or 70 applications, the decision of the Islamabad High Court will be awaited.

Judge Raja Jawad Abbas said that when the matter went to the Islamabad High Court, hearings cannot be held in the Sessions Courts. On this occasion, the investigating officer said that PTI leaders have not yet joined the investigation. The judge remarked that what should be included in the investigation? Invite them to Iftar?

During the hearing, PTI leader Shibli Faraz’s application for exemption from attendance due to corona virus was filed. Lawyer Naeem Panjotha, giving arguments, said that Hasan Niazi was arrested without incident at the previous judicial complex appearance. Murad Saeed’s house was raided and Farrukh Habib’s in-laws were also raided. PTI leaders have problems appearing in court because of the fear of abduction.

The judge inquired under which law to give you protection? The lawyer replied that an application for protection has been filed in the Islamabad High Court but the decision has not been made yet. The judge directed that an exception to one day’s attendance is granted but ensure attendance at the next appearance.

The court granted the pleas of Shibli Faraz, Murad Saeed, Farrukh Habib and Hasan Niazi for exemption from their appearance today and extended the interim bails of the PTI leaders till May 17.
