Approval to make electricity expensive for Karachi and cheaper for the whole country

Islamabad: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPAR) has given approval to make electricity more expensive for the consumers of Shahr Quaid while cheaper for the rest of the country.

According to Express News, Nepra has reduced the price of electricity by 56 paise per unit for the electricity consumers of Shahr Quaid and 6 paise per unit for the rest of the companies. The detailed decision of the Nepra Authority will be released later.

Nepra held separate hearings on February fuel adjustment requests of K Elekrak and government power companies. During the hearing, Nepra officials said that in February K Elekrak generated electricity at Rs 48.55 per unit from its own resources while the electricity received from the federal government The price was Rs 9.05 per unit.

After the hearing, Nepra has given permission to increase the price of electricity, but the authority will issue a detailed decision later. 5 billion 6.9 million additional burden due to transmission line problems.

Chairman Nepra said that expensive plants had to be run due to lack of transmission line from Tharcoal.
