Pakistan wins 3rd T20, series 1-2 to Afghanistan


Pakistan crushed Afghanistan’s dream of a clean sweep, defeating Rashid XI by 66 runs in the last T20I.

Chasing a target of 183 runs, the Afghanistan team was bowled out for 116 runs in this match played at the Sharjah Cricket Ground.

In the third T20 match, Afghanistan’s batsmen did not have a single run in the face of Pakistan’s disastrous bowling.

Azmatullah Omarzai scored the most runs for Afghanistan at number 10. He played an innings of 21 runs.

Initially, Rahmanullah Garbaz put on a 35-run partnership with Siddiqullah Atul, but after Garbaz, who scored 18 runs on that total, the Afghan batsmen forgot to bat.

Mohammad Nabi 17, Rashid Khan 16, Usma Ghani 15 and Siddiqullah scored 11 runs and got out. Najeebullah Zadran was injured by Ehsanullah’s ball after which retired hit.

Pakistan captain Shadab Khan and young fast bowler Ehsanullah sent three players to the pavilion.

Iftikhar Ahmed was caught out trying to hit a six off Fazal Farooqui, he played a responsible innings of 31 runs.

Captain Shadab Khan returned to the pavilion after playing an innings of 28 runs, he was dismissed.

Pakistan scored 182 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

On behalf of Afghanistan, Mujibur Rahman took 2 wickets while Fazal Farooqui, Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan, Fareed Ahmed and Karim Jannat took one wicket each.

National team captain Shadab Khan was adjudged Man of the Match for his all-round performance while Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi was adjudged Man of the Series.

Two changes were made to the Pakistan team, where Azam Khan was replaced by Iftikhar Ahmed and Naseem Shah was replaced by Mohammad Wasim.

The Pakistan team that entered the field under the captaincy of Shadab Khan consisted of Muhammad Haris, Saeem Ayub, Muhammad Nawaz, Iftikhar Ahmed, Abdullah Shafiq, Tayyab Tahir, Imad Wasim, Ehsanullah, Muhammad Wasim and Zaman Khan.

Rashid Khan led the Afghan team, which entered the field for a whitewash in the series.
