Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is holding a political power show in Lahore for which party chairman Imran Khan reached Minar Pakistan from his residence in Zaman Park.
Preparations for the meeting at Minar Pakistan were completed, PTI workers also reached the meeting place in large numbers.
For Imran Khan’s address, a bullet-proof cabin has been installed in the assembly hall from where the Chairman Tehreek-e-Insaf will address the participants of the assembly.
On one side there is a threat alert, on the other side there is a roundup of Tehreek-e-Insaaf workers.
Imran Khan says that he will announce a new plan of action in the rally. He alleged that 1,600 workers of his party have been arrested, barricades have been erected to prevent them from reaching the venue.
On the other hand, the Punjab government has denied erecting barriers but has also issued a threat alert in which it has been said that terrorists have reached Lahore with explosive materials that can target any place.
All the routes leading to PTI’s meeting ground, Minar Pakistan Ground, were closed.
The spokesperson of Lahore Police says that the measures were taken in view of security concerns, security measures should not be given the impression of blocking the way.
Caretaker Information Minister Aamir Mir denied blocking all routes. While speaking in Geo News program Naya Pakistan, he said that there is a threat alert, terrorists may target the police officers deployed at the rally.
He also said that the purpose of noses is not to hurt people but to protect them.
Internet service was stopped in Minar Pakistan and adjoining areas in Lahore.
The police crackdown also continued to arrest PTI workers in various cities of Punjab.
