Altaf Hussain lost 'party property' case in London

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) has won a long-running legal battle against its own party founder Altaf Hussain over ownership of a £10 million property in London.

According to reports, the Properties Division of the British High Court (ICC) ruled that MQM Pakistan and its members are entitled to control the property.

It should be noted that the property in London was under the management of Altaf Hussain, the founder of MQM, whose value is said to be 3 billion 40 crore rupees.

In his order, the judge ruled that Altaf Hussain had resigned from the party after the August 2016 speech and was therefore no longer entitled to benefit from the property.

On the other hand, MQM-PK convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, while holding a press conference in Karachi, confirmed the decision of the British court and called it a victory for the party.

Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that the UK court’s decision is proof that MQM-P is the real MQM. He said that the properties of the martyrs will now be used for the welfare of the people, including legal proceedings for the party’s martyrs, missing and captive workers.

He clarified that MQM-P has decided that a part of the property will be given to the widow of former MQM leader Imran Farooq who was murdered in London in 2010.

MQM-PK’s counsel also attended the press conference via video link from London, congratulating the party on the UK court’s decision.
