The Sindh High Court issued notices to the Election Commission and others while hearing the request of Jamaat-e-Islami regarding the holding of elections in 11 Local Union Committees.
The Sindh High Court asked the parties to respond within 10 days.
In the Supreme Court, the petitioner Ameer-e-Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Hafiz Naeemur Rehman took a stand that the elections for chairman and vice chairman were not held in 11 seats.
He has taken the stand that due to the death of the candidates and other reasons, the elections were not held on these seats, the Election Commission was also approached for the elections on these 11 seats, but the Election Commission is refraining from holding the elections on these seats.
Jamaat-e-Islami’s request has requested that immediate elections be held to complete the mayoralty process, and the Election Commission should be ordered to hold elections on 11 seats immediately.
