Lahore: Lahore High Court Justice Muzamil Akhtar Shabbir excused himself from hearing the petition against not allowing the women’s march.

Justice Muzamil Akhtar Shabbir heard the petition filed by Deputy Commissioner Lahore Miss Rafa Haider against the non-issuance of NOC for the Awart March rally. The court excused the formal hearing on the application and sent the file to the Chief Justice to be placed before another bench.

The organizers of Aurat March made the Deputy Commissioner Lahore, CCPO and others party to the petition. The petitioner was of the view that DC Lahore’s decision to ban Aurat March is illegal because women’s rights are violated in Aurat March. It is a matter of protection.

In the filed petition, it was said that the ban on the peaceful women’s march is a violation of the constitution, so the court should annul the DC’s decision regarding the ban on the women’s march. The decision of Lahore should be suspended.

Deputy Commissioner Lahore Rafa Haider had refused to issue NOC for the permission of Aurat March due to security concerns, controversial placards and banners related to women’s rights and clashes with members of Jamaat-e-Islami’s Haya March.
