Pakistani film ‘Joyland’ won another international award.
‘Joyland’ won the ‘Best International Film’ award at the Independent Spirit Awards 2023. The Independent Spirit Awards ceremony was attended by filmmakers and directors from around the world.
The story of Joyland highlights the problems faced by the transgender community in Pakistan. Joyland was up against four other films at the Independent Spirit Awards 2023. The film’s director Saeem Sadiq received the award while the film’s executive producer and Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai was also present on the stage.
Note that Joyland was also shortlisted for the Oscar award.
