Prime Minister's directive not to load-shedding during suhoor and iftar

The Prime Minister directed not to do load shedding during the hours of Suhr and Iftar during Ramadan.

The Prime Minister directed minimum load shedding in summer this year.

In a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif in Islamabad, various projects of electricity supply and power sector were reviewed in the summer of this year.

According to the official announcement, the meeting was briefed on the expected demand and supply of electricity this summer.

The meeting was also apprised of the progress on the 10,000 MW solarization project and while giving a briefing, it was told that the government is taking steps on a priority basis for solarization of government buildings. The completion of the project will be ensured within a specified period.

According to the briefing, the proposed policy for manufacturing solar panels at the local level will be submitted to the cabinet for approval. The policy on local manufacturing of electric bikes is also in final stages.

In the briefing, it was further informed that consultation with all stakeholders has been completed for the production of electric bikes.

The meeting was also informed about the installation of conical baffles in geysers to save gas. The project has been completed one month ahead of the target. Production of fans and bulbs with high power consumption will be discontinued after June 30.

According to the statement, the meeting was also apprised of the progress on solarization of agricultural tube wells.

The meeting was also informed about the implementation of the power saving plan of January 3, 2023 of the Cabinet.

The Prime Minister said that the pace of solarization of government buildings should be accelerated.

The Prime Minister expressed his anger over the delay in laying the Thar Matiari 500 KV transmission line and asked why the Thar Matiari transmission line was not completed within the stipulated period.

He directed that action should be taken against the officers guilty of negligence in this project. He also directed the restructuring of the NTDC Board.
