Karachi: Due to the indifference of the Provincial Health Department and the Sindh Works and Services Department, the Sindh Government Hospital PIB in Eastern District has not been fully functional even after many years.

The hospital built at a cost of crores lacks machines, furniture and medical equipment, even after ten years, the OPD is being run by only a few doctors, the 24-hour hospital is being used only for OPD for 5 hours. .

The establishment of Sindh Government Hospital PIB Colony was approved by the government in the Annual Development Scheme 2012, an amount of more than Rs.48 crore was initially allocated for the construction of the hospital.

This project was to be completed in 3 years, but even after 10 years, it has not been completed and proved to be beneficial to the public.

According to Mehr Khurshid, spokesperson of the Sindh Health Department, the hospital building was completed in all respects in 2022 but was not handed over to the Health Department.

The 100 bedded hospital does not even have machinery and medical equipment and the accident department is not functional to deal with emergency situations.

According to the spokesperson of the Sindh Health Department, the hospital building has not been handed over to the Sindh Health Department yet, but on the instructions of the higher authorities, they have started providing OPD, EPI and family planning services to the people of the area. It arises that if the hospital was not handed over to the health department, then how was the OPD started in it?

How did federal minister Shazia Murri inaugurate the development center in this hospital last month? In the year 2021-22, machinery worth 4.5 crores was purchased for the hospital, but that machinery is not available in the hospital. According to the health department, this machinery has been kept in the store, although there is no justification for keeping the machinery purchased for the hospital in the store. no.

Despite the construction cost of crores and the purchase of machinery worth crores, the non-operation of this hospital is a matter of concern. Action should also be taken against.
