The Lahore High Court ordered the government to produce Tosha Khana records before 2002.
A hearing was held in the Lahore High Court on the request to provide the details of Tosha Khana since the establishment of Pakistan. Cabinet Secretary Aizaz Dar appeared in court along with records.
The Additional Attorney General told the court that the cabinet has declassified the Tosha Khana records from 2002 till now as to who bought these gifts. All this record will be put on the website. They are not giving record who gave these gifts from abroad.
Justice Asim Hafeez inquired that you do not have the record before 2002? To which the federal government replied that the record before 2002 is not computerized.
The court ordered the cabinet secretary to produce the Tosha Khana records before 2002 at the next hearing.
The lawyer of the federal government presented the decision to declassify the cabinet record in the court. The petitioner’s counsel argued that the government should place the entire record before the court.
Justice Asim Hafeez said in his remarks that things do not change overnight. The government has decided to declassify the records in 2023.
The Lahore High Court adjourned the proceedings till March 13. In the petition filed in the court, the details of the gifts given from the Tosha Khana and the details of the persons to whom the gifts were given have been requested from Qiyam Pakistan.
