Islamabad: The High Court rejected the injunction request by the NAB officers against the summoning of the Public Accounts Committee.
Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Aamir Farooq merged the fresh petition against Talbi with the Tayyaba Gul case and issued notices to the parties on the fresh petition against PAC’s jurisdiction.
During the hearing, prosecutor Jahanzeb Bharwana and Mohammad Rafi appeared in the court on behalf of NAB and stated that PAC had summoned NAB officials on February 23. Chairman NAB, Prosecutor General, all present and former DGs have been summoned from NAB KP as the notice of PAC is exceeding jurisdiction and violation of rules.
Jahanzeb Bharwana told the court that we have challenged the jurisdiction of the Public Accounts Committee. The concerned DG should go to PAC, but why was everyone called? The ongoing PAC notices for tomorrow’s summons should be suspended.
The Chief Justice remarked that you are asking more than the scope of this writ. Later, the court issued a notice to the Public Accounts Committee on the request of NAB and adjourned the hearing till March 8.
It should be noted that the Public Accounts Committee has summoned NAB officials on cases related to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. PAC has called for a briefing on BRT Peshawar, Khyber Bank, helicopter case and Bullentree Tsunami.
