National Assembly Committees;  Framework for power sharing between government and opposition prepared

Islamabad: The framework of the power-sharing formula between the government and the opposition on the issue of formation of National Assembly Committees has been prepared, after which the negotiations have entered the final stages.

According to Express News, the chairmanship of 26 committees of the National Assembly will be given to the ruling coalition, while the opposition will get the chairmanship of 11. Similarly, the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee will be from the opposition and the chairman of the Kashmir Committee will be from the government alliance. The Speaker will be the Chairman of the National Assembly House Business Advisory Committee.

According to the framework of power sharing formula between the government and the opposition on the formation of National Assembly Committees, 13 of the Standing Committees, 16 members of the Public Accounts Committee will be from the government coalition. 15 members in the Kashmir Committee, 18 members in the House Business Advisory will be from the government coalition.

The number of opposition members in the standing committees of the National Assembly, the Public Accounts Committee and the Kashmir Committee will be 7.7. Apart from this, the chairman of 14 committees of the National Assembly will be from Muslim League-N, while the chairman of 8 committees will be from PPP. MQM will get 2 committee chairmanships, Muslim League-Q and the Stability Pakistan Party will get one chairmanship each.

10 committees will be chaired by independent members supported by PTI, one committee will be chaired by JUI. Out of the 20 members of the standing committees, 14 members will be from the government and 6 from the opposition parties. Each standing committee will include 7 members from Muslim League-N-K, 4 members from PPP, while one member each from Muslim League-Q and MQM.

Five independent members of PTI and one member of JUI will be given membership in the standing committee. Out of the 23 members of the Public Accounts Committee, 16 MPs will be from the government and 7 from the opposition. Out of the 22 members of the Privileges Committee, 15 members will be from the government and 7 from the opposition.

Government assurances In the committee, out of 16 members, 11 will be from the government and 5 from the opposition. Of the 13 members of the House and Library Committee, 9 will be from the government and 4 from the opposition. In the 22-member Kashmir committee, the government’s quota will be 15, while the opposition will consist of 7 members. Out of the 26 members of the House Business Advisory Committee, 18 will be from the government and 8 from the opposition.
