Karachi: Inter-city buses and transport continue to depart from the city’s bus bases to celebrate Eid in the native areas, while complaints are being received from passengers about excessive fares in inter-city buses and transport this year as well.
As in previous years, this year too, as Eid-ul-Fitr approaches, the transporters have arbitrarily increased the fares. Fares are higher at Cantt Station, Taj Complex, Empress Market, Sohrab Goth, Lasbela, Nishtar Road, Lee Market, Yusuf Goth and other places. Complaints received.
Passengers say that the transporters have increased the fare from 200 to 800 rupees on normal days. Ataullah Abbasi, a passenger departing from the Taj Complex bus stand, told Express that the fare for Thari Mirwah in rural Sindh is 1200 rupees on a normal day. But on the occasion of Eid, this rent is being charged to Rs 2000 after an increase of Rs 800.
According to Salar Memon, who is going to Larkana, he is going from Karachi to Larkana along with 10 members of his family. Rent has been received.
According to transporter Sikander Chandev, to compensate for the increase in diesel price and the loss of returning empty, the government has not made security and other arrangements despite the rush at the bus stands due to which the passengers are facing severe problems.
