Records of the cases filed against Imran Riaz, Azam Swati presented in Lahore High Court

Lahore: The records of the cases filed against journalist Imran Riaz and PTI leader Azam Swati were presented in the Lahore High Court.

A hearing was held on the application for providing the details of the cases registered in the Lahore High Court. On the court order, the details of the cases were presented in the court by FIA and IG Punjab.

The details of the cases on behalf of FIA were presented by Deputy Attorney General Tariq Basheer.

According to the public prosecutor, one case has been registered against Imran Riaz in Cybercrime Lahore, one in City Sangla Hill Nankana Sahib police station, two in Attock City Police Station and Sadar Chakwal Police Station. Five other different cases filed against Imran Riaz have been quashed.

Imran Riaz’s lawyer Salma Riaz appeared in the court. Advocate Salma Riaz said that the court should also ask for a report from the Federal Ministry of Interior, on which the court said that all the records have come before us.

The court disposed of the request of Imran Riaz in the light of the submitted reports.

Similarly, the case filed against PTI leader Azam Swati and providing details of detention was heard by Justice Shahram Sarwar Chaudhry. According to the court order, Deputy Secretary Home Punjab Afzal Bashir appeared before the court and submitted the report.

The Deputy Secretary Home said that there was no detention order against Azam Swati, on which the court disposed of the application in the light of the report of the Home Department.

Expressing his anger at the female law officer of the home department for giving a vague answer in the court, he remarked that the law officers have expectations of the court, but you came here with a handshake.

The police authorities have submitted their report in the court according to which six cases have been registered against Azam Swati in Lahore and four in Faisalabad while no case has been registered in other districts of Punjab.

Azam Swati’s lawyers argued in the court that the petitioner is highly educated and prominent politician of the country, was arrested during the action against PTI while the petitioner was tortured and insulted to the housewives, PTI Cases have been registered against the I leadership and the petitioner across the country, the details of the cases filed against the petitioner in Punjab are not being provided.

In the petition, it was requested that the court should provide the details of the registered cases, ensure the protection of the women of the house, protection of chadar four walls and fundamental rights, provide the details of the detention orders of the petitioner.
