Notice issued to government on petition against Aurat March

These immoral things are having bad effects in our society, Sindh High Court

Karachi: Women lawyers reached the Sindh High Court with complaints related to the Aurat March and the event in the city.

The Sindh High Court has issued notices to the parties on the petition of women lawyers against PEMRA, federal and provincial government and arts council and others.

A hearing was held in front of a two-member bench headed by Chief Justice Sindh High Court Justice Aqeel Ahmad Abbasi on the petition of women lawyers against PEMRA, federal and provincial government and Arts Council and others.

The Chief Justice remarked that you should have given this application before March 8.

The petitioner’s lawyers stated that we had earlier requested for an urgent hearing, but our request was not heard.

The court inquired as to whether such immoral acts are being done in the women’s march, which you object to.

Petitioner lawyers said that there are movements against our society and Islamic Shariah matters in Aurat March. In this, dance and nudity are being promoted in the name of women’s freedom. Arts council and other organizations are allowing them to do all this.

The court remarked that these immoral things are having bad effects in our society, what is its interpretation in the constitution and law, women have full freedom in our Islamic system.

The petitioner’s lawyers took the position that cultural centers and parks are being used for Aurat March programs and this should be stopped.

The court issued a notice to all the parties and asked them to respond by March 19.
