Karachi: The Chief Minister told ADB that funds are being sought for the construction of two and a half lakh houses, but $400 million is required for the project.

The Chief Minister said that they are looking for funds to build 250,000 houses for the flood-affected people, adding that $400 million is needed for this project and an additional $100 million for community infrastructure development.

The Chief Minister of Sindh said that he wants to build an efficient drainage system (with large pits and pond-like tanks), drinking water facility and drainage system. He said that we are also planning to provide solar units and washrooms to the flood affected houses.

CEO SPHF Khalid Shaikh said that out of 1 million houses, 100,000 houses have been constructed and others are under construction. The Chief Minister said that the chairman of his party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, has announced the construction of low-cost houses for the poor in his election manifesto.

He said that apart from the flood affected people, we are also looking for donors to build houses. It was decided in the meeting that the paperwork of the $400 project of 250,000 houses will be completed.
