Karachi: The Sindh High Court has sought a response from the federal and Sindh government on the petition against imposing heavy fines on milk shops.
A two-member bench headed by Chief Justice Sindh High Court Justice Aqeel Ahmad Abbasi heard a petition against imposing heavy fines on milk shops.
The petitioner’s counsel argued that we are issued challans, fines are imposed. We want Commissioner Karachi to determine the price of milk in consultation with all stakeholders. We are being challenged unjustly. Malik is closing the shops by issuing a challan of 2.2 lakhs to the shopkeepers.
Chief Justice Aqeel Ahmad Abbasi remarked that when milk is sold expensively, there will be a challan. Don’t you want people to get cheap milk? The price of milk is determined by the commissioner.
The public prosecutor submitted that after the 18th amendment, the provincial government invokes the challan.
The Chief Justice remarked that we had earlier fixed the price of milk, which lasted for two years.
The court directed the public advocate and remarked that the Advocate General should submit his reply.
The Advocate General sought time to submit the reply. The court has sought a response from the federal and Sindh government on the next hearing.
