Not wanting to issue an order that would delay the elections, the Supreme Court

Islamabad: During the hearing of the appeal filed for approval of the nomination papers, the court has remarked that it does not want to pass such an order, which will cause delay in the elections.

A 3-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah heard the appeal against rejection of nomination papers in Punjab Assembly Constituency PP 244 Bahawal Nagar. The court dismissed the appeal filed for approval of nomination papers of candidate Muzaffar Khan from PP 244.

The court said that the petitioner delayed by 12 days in filing the appeal. Had the appeal been filed in time, permission for the elections could have been granted. Do not want to issue such an order that will lead to delay in elections.

During the hearing, Special Secretary Election Commission Zafar Iqbal informed that the process of delivery of ballot papers is also going on in many districts. If the papers are approved at this stage, the elections in the constituency may be delayed.

Later, the Supreme Court dismissed the appeal against the rejection of the nomination papers.

It should be noted that the nomination papers of the petitioner Malik Muzaffar Khan from PP Bahawal Nagar constituency of the Provincial Assembly were rejected.
