Clash between MQM and PP in Karachi, MQM unit in-charge killed

Karachi: A worker of one political party was killed and a worker of another political party was injured due to heavy firing during a bloody clash between two political parties at Nazimabad No. 2 Multi Chowk.

The angry people set fire to two double cabin vehicles and broke the windows of many vehicles, a heavy contingent of police and rangers reached the spot and detained 4 persons.

Near Nazimabad No. 2 Multi Chowk, the area erupted with heavy firing during the clash between workers of two political parties on Sunday and Monday night.

The armed men pelted several vehicles with sticks, which also shattered the windows of the vehicles. Two mobiles of the Gulbahar police station reached the spot at a distance from the incident site, but the firing continued even in the presence of the police. Two people were injured.

One of the injured was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital in a private vehicle while the other injured was taken to the hospital in a police mobile, the police mobile failed to leave the area due to firing.

Later, he was shifted in a Vigo vehicle and taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors declared that the injured person was brought dead.

According to the police, the deceased person was identified as 44-year-old Faraz Ahmed Qureshi son of Ghayur Ahmed Qureshi, while the injured youth was identified as 25-year-old Rao Muhammad Talha son of Rao Muhammad Saleem.

Talha was transferred from the hospital to a private hospital after first aid. According to the residents of the area, the rally of the People’s Party was passing through the area. A bitter exchange took place between the workers of MQM and People’s Party which reached the point of fistfight.

Unknown persons in vehicles started firing indiscriminately. While some people also threw sticks at the vehicles, the residents of the area said that the sound of firing was so intense that its sound could be heard from far away. The firing did not stop despite the arrival of

Meanwhile, unknown persons set fire to two double cabin (Hilux) vehicles, the owners of the vehicles had to leave their vehicles and run away. Later, a heavy contingent of Rangers reached the spot after which the firing stopped.

A fire brigade vehicle reached the spot and extinguished the fire in the vehicles, while the owners of the burning vehicles reached their vehicles sitting in the mobiles of the Rangers, but by that time both the vehicles were completely destroyed by fire.

According to the police, the deceased Faraz was a resident of Paposh Nagar and in-charge of MQM Pakistan Gulbehar Sector Unit 38, while the injured Rao Muhammad Talha is a PPP worker.

After the incident, hundreds of angry workers of MQM Pakistan reached Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and remained in the hospital till 5 am. Later, the body of the deceased was taken to KF Mortuary in New Karachi after police action.

The police say that four people have been arrested on suspicion of firing from the crime scene and investigations have started, while several shells have been found at the crime scene and have been sent for forensics.
