It has been more than a year since the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been functioning without a permanently elected chairman, first Najam Sethi was appointed in December 2022 and then Zaka Ashraf in July 2023 as the Chairman of the PCB Management Committee.
Although the formation of BOG was notified during Najam Sethi’s tenure, it was rejected by the then minister for inter-provincial coordination, Ehsan Mazari. A new management committee was formed in July 2023 under the chairmanship of
Zaka Ashraf’s term as Chairman Management Committee ends on February 4 and before that he has to complete the PCB elections for which the formation of the Board of Governors is necessary.
The management committee had called a meeting in Karachi on Tuesday to form the board of governors, but after the letter from the IPC ministry, the meeting was postponed due to a decision of the Lahore High Court, in the light of which the PCB Election Commissioner Shah Khawar has the authority to form the Board of Governors instead of the Management Committee.
Federal Minister IPC Fawad Hasan Fawad has confirmed in a conversation with Geo News that the two officials have been called for a meeting tomorrow in which the issue of the formation of the Board of Governors will be discussed.
