Karachi: In the custody of the Specialized Investigation Unit of the Police Department in Shahr Quaid, a citizen died of violence and the body was thrown by the policemen near the house and escaped.
According to the details, the police party detained a citizen named Qiyamuddin on January 12, 2024 in Manghopir police station area of Karachi and then handcuffed him and took him to his brother’s house and searched him.
Later, the SIU officials took the citizen away with them assuring them to be released shortly and threatened the family not to file any complaint anywhere.
After that, Qiyamuddin’s body was found near the house, on which the brother went to the Manghopir police station and informed about the whole situation and then the police registered a case of the incident.
The plaintiff has said that the people involved in the police party were in plain clothes who also had a police mobile, they waited for the brother till morning, then around 11:30 the children of the street told that a dead body was lying in an empty plot. When I reached the spot, my brother Nizamuddin’s body was lying in an empty plot.
The police have registered a case on the complaint of Qiyamuddin, the brother of Nizamuddin, who was killed by violence.
Police sources said that after the body was found and a case was registered, DIGCIA Ahmed Nawaz Cheema conducted an inquiry into the incident and raided the Specialized Investigation Unit and released the illegally detained persons in the cells. Interrogated other police officers including SP (SIU).
After this investigation, the death of a citizen named Nizamuddin was determined and the police party was formally arrested. DIG CIA Ahmed Nawaz Cheema told Express News that the police party of SIU was involved in the illegal raid that resulted in the death of Shahri Nizamuddin. They kept the body in the mobile and then left it in an empty plot near the house and fled.
According to the DIG, the police officers and personnel involved in the illegal raid have been formally arrested, but the arrest of the police party has not been revealed so far.
It should be noted that this is not the first incident, but numerous complaints of this kind have been brought forward regarding the Specialized Investigation Unit, in which the illegal kidnapping of citizens and the collection of ransom are worth mentioning.
Apart from this, the SIU police also detains citizens in cases of money transactions and then releases them after the transaction. He was removed from Shikarpur but has now been posted in the Specialized Investigation Unit.
