Karachi: The goods transporters gave a 48-hour ultimatum to the government to stop the abduction of drivers and violence.
During a joint press conference at Truck Base Hawkes Bay Road, the President of Goods Carrier Association Noor Khan Niazi along with other leaders said that the incidents of vehicle hijacking and robberies are increasing day by day in some parts of the country, especially in Sindh and Baluchistan.
He said that if the driver does not stop the vehicle, it is fired, due to which the lives of the drivers are not safe and the vehicles are also seriously damaged.
He said that on the 7th of this month, a burst of bullets hit the wheels of trucks in Kashmore, and 9 drivers were forced out of the vehicles, apart from the danger to precious lives, the transporters suffered a loss of 2 crore rupees due to tires damaged by bullets.
This process is not new but in the past this type of approach was adopted by these elements, attention was drawn to it many times, but due to the continuous inattention of the authorities, goods transporters lost crores of rupees and many precious lives were lost. The day-to-day events have created anxiety in the transporter, and what happens to the hostages and their families is a different story.
Noor Khan Niazi said that the President of Pakistan, the Caretaker Prime Minister, the Chief Justice of Pakistan, the Chief of the Army Staff, appeal to the Chief Ministers of the four provinces to bring back our drivers as soon as possible and make all the highways safe for the transporters.
He said that he appeals to all the traders and the leadership of the Chambers to stand with us in this matter, so that these incidents are dealt with strictly in the future because the goods of the traders are loaded on these vehicles.
He said that we don’t want to take any step due to which the country’s economy will deteriorate further, but we are being forced to go in this direction.
Noor Khan Niazi said that he is giving the government an ultimatum of 48 hours to find a sustainable solution to this problem, if this does not happen, then the future plan will be decided together with the goods organizations across Pakistan, which also includes the option of stopping the business and stopping the vehicles. included.
