Salary of 4 members of Missing Persons Commission Rs.30 lakh per month

Islamabad: The Missing Persons Commission has submitted details to the Attorney General on the court order, which states that the salary of 4 members of the commission is around Rs 30 lakh per month.

According to the report, the head of the missing persons commission and other 3 members get a monthly salary of 29 lakh 64 thousand 52 rupees. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reported the highest number of cases of missing persons at 3485 while 2752 cases of enforced disappearance of citizens were received from Balochistan.

In the report submitted by the Missing Persons Commission, it has been stated that the reason for the disappearance of citizens from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is due to mischief, war situation, deaths in drone attacks. Due to the war situation, moving to other countries without informing the family is also the reason for the cases of enforced disappearance. Issued 744 production orders to supply missing persons, of which only 52 were executed.

692 production orders issued by the Commission were not implemented by the concerned authorities. Police and sensitive agencies filed 182 applications for review of production orders. Of the unexecuted production orders, 503 are PKs. From March 2011 to December 2023, 4413 missing persons returned home, while 994 missing persons are in various detention centers and 644 persons are imprisoned in various prisons of the country.

According to the report, the bodies of 261 missing persons were found from March 2011 to December 2023. The commission dismissed 1,477 cases as non-enforced disappearances, including cases of kidnapping for ransom, personal enmity or spontaneous disappearance. 260 cases of Punjab, 163 of Sindh, 1336 of KP, 468 of Balochistan, 55 cases of Islamabad and 15 cases of Azad Kashmir are pending in the commission.

A total of 35 officers and employees are appointed in the Missing Persons Commission, whose monthly salaries are more than 15 lakhs. Commission head Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal receives 6 lakh 74 thousand, member Zia Parvez 8 lakh 29 thousand, member Justice (retd) Amanullah Khan 11 lakh 39 thousand, Sharif Work receives 2 lakh 63 thousand monthly.

It should be noted that the Supreme Court has sought a response from the federal government within 20 days of receiving the details.
