ISLAMABAD – Press Network of Pakistan, an Islamabad-based Media House registered with the Press Information Department, Federal Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, has established the PNP Election Cell in view of the General Election 2024 to be held on 8th February, 2024 for National Assembly & Provincial Assemblies. According to Sabahuddin Qazi, Editor-in-chief PNP, the Election Cell aims of providing accurate and timely information to citizens and facilitating political parties to disseminate their message to masses, as well as to debunk fake news and propaganda being carried out by some elements fulfilling vested interests.
“We, at Press Network of Pakistan, strongly believe that the electoral process is the key instrument in the continuation of democracy, whereas transparent and high quality elections give credibility and strength to a democratic society,” the Editor-in-chief said, emphasizing that: “It is the prime responsibility of the media to provide authentic and accurate information to its audience in order to empower the citizens for making a correct decision in the elections, as it leads to voting for the right candidate for the formation of a good government in the best interest of our beloved country.”
As part of ongoing initiatives to strengthen industry-academia linkages, Press Network of Pakistan is also providing dedicated university students having passion for current affairs and elections an exciting opportunity to become active part of the PNP Election Cell, so that they being the leader of tomorrow would be empowered to play a pivotal role in the electoral process. “Undoubtedly, the future depends on how effectively and efficiently an individual citizen contributes in the electoral process to strengthen parliamentary democracy,” Mr. Qazi concluded.
