Karachi: Echoing the most corrupt system during the hearing of the case of illegal construction in the Sindh High Court, the court ordered to register a case against the builder and SBCA officials.

Before a two-member bench headed by Justice Nadeem Akhtar, a petition related to illegal floor demolition was heard in Nazimabad C One 4/9. During the hearing of the illegal construction case, Gonz, Sindh’s most corrupt system, told the court about the SBCA system on behalf of the builder.

The builder’s lawyer stated that when the construction was going on, the SBCA officers said, “Give money instead of stopping the illegal constructions. They said, give money. The system is asking for money.”

Justice Nadeem Akhtar remarked that you know what is being said in the court? The builder’s lawyer stated that the system that is running in Sindh, money is demanded during illegal constructions.

The court was furious with the SBCA officers and lawyers. Justice Nadeem Akhtar remarked that SBCA has become the most corrupt institution in the province. There is a nexus of builders, mafias and SBCA. Why are illegal constructions allowed to happen? First, illegal constructions are allowed in the city.

The court ordered to register a case against the builder and SBCA officials. He remarked in the court that a case should also be filed against the SBCA employee who took the money. When the building map was not approved, why was the illegal construction not demolished?

Director SBCA Central Aamir Kamal Jafari said that when they go to demolish the building, there is resistance. Justice Nadeem Akhtar inquired that when there is resistance, then what do you do? SBCA director said that we have given notice to the residents to vacate the building.

Justice Nadeem Akhtar remarked that you people sleep by giving notice in every case. Director SBCA said that each officer has 70-80 cases. The court inquired why the case has come to the court. Inspector Nadeem Akhtar remarked that the city has become a concrete jungle due to the incompetence of the SBCA.

Those who are sitting in SBCA themselves do not want action against illegal constructions. The court sought a report on January 15 after demolishing the illegal floor in Nazimabad Sea One 4/9.
