The order of Lahore High Court is an obstacle to the constitutional right to hold elections, Supreme Court

Islamabad: The Supreme Court issued a 6-page written order in the general election case.

The Supreme Court issued a notice to Barrister Umeer Niazi and asked for an explanation, saying that why contempt of court proceedings should not be taken against him, the order of the Supreme Court was clear that no one will disrupt the democratic process. Umeer Niazi apparently derailed the democratic process. Attempted to do so.

The order said that the Lahore High Court had stopped the work of 2753 DROs, ROs and AROs and derailed the back-to-back election process.

The Supreme Court held that District Returning Officers (DROs) and Returning Officers (ROs) were not appointed specifically for elections, rather the appointed officers were already performing duties as administrative officers.

The Supreme Court ordered that the decision of the Lahore High Court is suspended. The court also restrained the Lahore High Court from taking further action on the application.

According to the decree, the lawyer of the Election Commission said that the chief justices of the five high courts were requested to provide judicial officers, but none of the high court chief justices agreed to provide judicial officers.

The Supreme Court said that the order of the Lahore High Court is an obstacle to the constitutional responsibility of the Election Commission and the constitutional right to conduct elections, while the petitioner in the Lahore High Court, Umair Niazi, belongs to a political party.
