After two-and-a-half years in Hyderabad, polio virus has been confirmed in an environmental sample, after which the anti-polio campaign in the district has been extended for two more days.
According to District Health Officer Dr Lala Jaffer, the virus was confirmed through an environmental sample taken from the Qasimabad pumping station.
He added that on November 8, a sample was taken to confirm the polio virus.
Dr. Lala Jaffer also said that polio virus was confirmed in sewage water in July 2021, since then Hyderabad has been polio virus negative.
He said that after the confirmation of polio virus in the recent sample, the anti-polio campaign in Hyderabad has been extended for two more days.
